Speeding up nurse credentialing without cutting corners

What’s your fastest path to onboard an ICU RN with a compact license, ACLS/BLS, and recent EPIC within 7 days? We’re missing night coverage at two rural hospitals; even with Nursys primary source verification and Certemy checklists we average 10–12 days — looking for practical, Joint Commission-compliant ways to shave that down.

Preload EPIC modules and SkillSurvey refs on day 0; shaved 2 days, JC-safe… Hitting “7 days” consistently?

Fastest I’ve hit 7 days: run everything in parallel — keep Nursys PSV, but book mobile occ health on Day 0 for UDS + Quantiferon + fit test at the nurse’s home, and swap SkillSurvey for two manager-to-manager phone refs (JC allows either) to save 1–2 days. In Certemy, preload the rural-site attestation packet and ask for an EPIC “proficiency letter” from the last employer to trim modules — some sites won’t waive all, but many will. @chris77 have you tried the mobile occ health + phone-ref combo?

, the slowest drag for me isn’t Nursys/Certemy — it’s repeat occ-health; push the hospitals to honor “fit-test reciprocity”: if the RN has a fit test in the last 12 months for the same mask model, stock that model and do a seal check on night one (JC/OSHA-compliant). Pair it with TB carryover (recent negative IGRA or 2-step within 365 days + symptom screen) and instant AHA eCard verification for ACLS/BLS, and you usually cut a couple days. @chris77 are your rural partners willing to accept existing fit-test/TB docs, or do they force fresh screens every assignment?

Big win for us: a remote I‑9 authorized rep network plus a pre-signed “universal release,” so criminal, OIG, and SAM kick off the moment the offer’s accepted; OIG is instant here: https://exclusions.oig.hhs.gov. With consent, we also query the state immunization registry to close MMR/Varicella gaps instead of chasing clinic printouts — faster than my espresso machine warms up. Will your hospitals accept registry pulls in lieu of new serology?
