Making quick booth conversations count

I’m a campus recruiter and I’ve started using a 3-minute timer and a QR resume drop to keep lines moving while still getting solid signals on new grads for entry-level roles. After last Thursday’s UW fair we booked 22 next-day micro-interviews and saw a higher show rate than on-the-spot screens — curious if others are seeing the same.

At the CSU fair we added one “signal” question to the QR (“what’s the scrappiest thing you shipped last semester?”) and auto-tagged to route 10‑min next‑day slots — show rate popped, speed‑dating energy. Small caveat: the 3‑min rush can ding quieter folks, so we offer an opt‑in “async follow‑up” for a Loom/GitHub walkthrough — have you tried that?

We switched to a 3‑minute + QR flow too and the show rate jumped, but the real win was confirming the next‑day micro‑interview by SMS at the booth so they leave with a calendar hold. Tiny caveat: asking for exact times caused drop‑offs, so we moved to AM/PM blocks and auto‑assign; @jacob_wil19 your single‑signal idea is solid, but the block choice moved the needle more on no‑shows for us. , time math on a crowded floor is chaos, so fewer choices equals more shows.
