At 10:14 a.m. I deleted ‘no jerks’ from a job description because Legal wanted ‘committed to respectful collaboration,’ and our culture instantly felt like it put on a blazer. As the HR content writer, how are you sneaking real culture — think five-minute demo days and the taco-off trophy in Engineering — past Greenhouse’s 400-character summary and the red pen without spooking the ATS or Compliance?
I sneak the culture into responsibilities as facts — “we demo every Friday” and a parenthetical like (yes, there’s a taco trophy) — which Legal okays because it reads as process, like hiding spinach in lasagna… Tiny caveat: one inside joke max or candidates ping @recruiting confused, so I link to a short clip on the careers page instead.
Totally get that! I’ve used playful footnotes like (seriously, taco trophy lives here) to keep it light. How do you think Legal would handle emojis in job posts?
.
, this drives me nuts too! I once slipped in a line about our Friday demos where I mentioned, ‘bring your taco trophy or a good laugh’ — it seemed to pass Legal, but I could tell they were cringing. I wonder if we could just get away with a fun icon instead of emojis, @mrodriguez?
