Coffee chat morphed into an interview last quarter β now I send a 3-line agenda and label it βno evalβ; if it drifts, I pause and book a real screen. Balancing speed/quality, three same-day Calendly slots and a single Notion rubric cut our cycle by about 24 hours. > resume without losing yourself β we pair veteran candidates with a peer buddy before the call so they can translate experience without losing identity.
I add a 2βminute consent checkpoint up front: βAre you open to a couple evaluative questions today, or should we keep this purely exploratory?β If they opt in, I limit it to two structured prompts and stop, then book a formal screen; the caveat is it only works if you stick to the cap. @dlee82 have you tried this?
Building on @sgreen, I schedule 25 minutes and title it βExploratory β no assessmentβ; after, I tag the note in the ATS as βinfo chatβ with one line on topics so hiring partners donβt treat it as a screen. Small caveat: if we both want to dive deeper, I book a sameβday formal interview rather than extending the chat.
